The Siegerrebe comes to the fore with its characteristic Rose petal and lychee aromas, the palate is rich and surprisingly full bodied for an English wine showing a great depth of tropical fruit and a long finish.
Made from 2 pink skinned varietals, in 2016 the little Siegerrebe and Schonberger we had was harvested incredibly ripe. Both varietals were harvested by hand, the Siegerrebe on the 22nd of September the Schonberger on the 9th of October. The grapes were pressed and fermented cool in stainless steel tanks to preserve the natural fruit characters coming from the grapes. After fermentation the two wines were racked, blended and aged on their lees ['Sur lie'] for 8 months before being bottled in early Summer.
