Pinot Noir 2017
Wine: Still Red
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir
Character: Fruity and complex
Aromas: Cherry, smoke, leaf, spice
Flavours: Cherry, spice, wild strawberry
Light ruby red in colour. This Pinot noir has an intricate nose, aromas suggest predominantly berries and smoke, but beyond this there is sweet spice, crushed juniper leaf and suggestions of something earthy. The palate is light to medium bodied with ripe and fruity flavours and soft tannins.
Do not be fooled by the light colour that Pinot Noir has a tendency for. There is surprising fruit weight and depth. This Pinot Noir was picked in early October showing good ripeness and maturity. The grapes were destemmed and fermented warm around 20 degrees celcius with regular punch downs performed to aid extraction. Nearing the completion of fermentation the wine was racked and pressed in to a mixture of french and caucasian oak barrels where the wine aged for 7 months before being bottled unfiltered and unfined.
