Mena Hweg 2020

Enjoyed in Nathan Outlaw's Fish Kitchen, Port Isaac

Wine: Still White
Grape variety: Bacchus
Body: Light
Sweetness: Semi sweet
Alcohol: 8%
Character: Aromatic and sweet
Aromas: Primrose, Jasmin, Elderflower
Flavours: Lemon sherbet, elderflower.
Food Pairing: Enjoy as an aperitif or paired with savoury foods, dessert dishes that are neither too sweet nor too spicy.
Vinification: A semi sweet wine in the style of a german Riesling. The grapes are gently pressed and cool fermented. Three quarters of the way through the fermentation, the tank is chilled right down, stopping the ferment resulting in a semi sweet wine, with lower alcohol.
Winemakers Notes: Each year we look for fruit with the right balance of acidity and sweetness to make this wine, in the style of some of the great wines of the Mosel.
This year it was Bacchus, that was richly aromatic with the right balance of sugar and acidity. A very pale almost water like wine, It displays intense floral aromas of primrose and jasmine, while the palate is light, crisp and reminiscent of lemon sherbet and elderflower.
Serve at 8-10c.
