Madeleine Angevine 2017
Intended as an easy drinking, light and refreshing white wine. Incredibly light and delicate in body with good acidity and ripe flavours. Perfect as an aperitif or with locally caught seafood.

As always with our Madeleine our philosophy is to allow the varietal to express its self. The 2017 shows incredible ripeness and aromatic intensity. The aromas are a wonderful balance of fruit and floral with the typical Elderflower aroma still present but jostling amongst all the others. The palate is bone dry, fruity and well balanced with a long tangy gooseberry filled finish.
2017 created one of the most ripe and expressive Madeleines we have had to date. Both sugar levels and acidity were fine and balanced without being exceptional. However the flavours and aromatics present in the grapes showed more intensity and concentration than we had experienced before.
Hand picked on the 21st of September, the grapes were gently pressed, extracting only the finest juice. The juice was fermented cool between 10-16 degrees celcius to maintain aromas and freshness. Following the ferment the wine was aged for a further 6 months on its lees ['Sur lie'], to add body and softness, before being bottled on the 29th of March 2018.
Good as an aperitif. A wonderful English alternative to Sauvignon Blanc, fine paired with delicate white meats, fish, creamy cheeses and salads. Serve lightly chilled at 10 degrees celcius.
