Madeleine Angevine 2016
Grape variety: Madeleine Angevine
Tasting Notes: Intended as an easy drinking, light and refreshing white wine. The philosophy is to allow the grape variety to express itself and as always, we have embraced the elegance and delicacy of the fruit, allowing it to stand up on its own merits.
Winemaker’s Notes: Madeleine Angevine is a varietal that displays strong vintage variation. 2016, weather was relatively dry and sunny during the crucial ripening period from late August through to October. Due to the dry sunny days and relatively cool nights the Madeleine is incredibly light and delicate in body with good acidity and ripe flavours. Less full bodied than the 2015 vintage but still immensely drinkable.
Picked by hand on the 28th to the 30th of September, grapes were gently whole bunch pressed. Each parcel of grapes picked over the 3 days were pressed and fermented separately. A cool fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks preserving the grapes natural delicate fruit aromas and flavours. After a few months ageing on the lees [sur lie], the wine was bottled.
Food Pairing: Perfect as an aperitif or with locally caught seafood. The aromatic nature of this wine lends well to pairing with fish curry or risotto. Enjoy at 10ºC.
